The Thames Diamond Jubilee - June 2012
Even though the weather was miserable, thousands turned out along the Thames on Sunday 3rd June to watch the joy of the Thames Pageant and celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Imperial Wharf Marina was a focal point at the start of the pageant due to Gloriana, the queen’s barge and the head of the pageant, leaving from the pier. The boat took position at the top of the pier early in the morning before the rowing crew boarded to much applause from the waiting crowds. Among the 18 rowers were Sir Matthew Pinsent, Sir Steve Redgrave and injured servicemen.
Several large passenger boats also departed from Imperial Wharf with lots of VIPs on board including mayor Boris Johnson, Prince Edward and Karen Brady.
