We’ve played a starring role in history

We may have only opened our doors in 2011, but it didn’t take long for us to make our mark on the River Thames.

In 2012, Imperial Wharf Marina played a pivotal role in a momentous occasion: the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 60 years on the throne. We were a focal point as Gloriana, The Queen’s Rowbarge and the head of the Pageant, left from our pier.

The barge took position at the top of the pier early in the morning before the rowing crew boarded to much applause from the waiting crowds. Among the 18 rowers were Sir Matthew Pinsent, Sir Steve Redgrave, and injured servicemen.

Several large passenger boats carrying esteemed VIPs such as Mayor Boris Johnson, Prince Edward, Victoria Cross Holders, and Karen Brady, also departed from Imperial Wharf Marina.

Following the conclusion of the Pageant, the entire Royal Family, other than The Queen, disembarked at our pier.

We remain immensely honoured to have played a part in this iconic moment of British history.
